In Loving Memory of Bali
We were blessed to have Bali with us for 16 wonderful years
It was 2003, way back when we were known as Jeff Davis County Humane Society, when someone found a wisp of a kitty in very poor condition with a badly injured leg. We guessed she was about one year old, and she was found in Balmorhea, so we named her Bali. Drs. Janet Greathouse and Dave Taylor were able to provide immediate care since, through their generosity, our pets were being kept at Fort Davis Veterinary Services at that time. They quickly determined she had been bitten by a snake, and her long road to recovery began. After a few surgeries to save her leg, including skin grafts, and months of treatments, she was well on her way to a full recovery. Bali proved to be an incredible patient and a wonderful, gentle soul. She always willingly accepted the care we had to give to help her, never showing angst or disapproval. During the time she was in our adoption program, we were renovating the building for our thrift store opening in late 2004. As time wore on and she was not adopted, because of her stellar personality, we decided we would see if she would enjoy being our thrift store kitty, and the rest is history. For 14 years she enchanted us all as she gracefully welcomed all customers, volunteers and staff into her circle of friends. Give a donation in loving memory of Bali |
Bali was a constant source of goodwill, fun, and comfort! She was such a good-natured, dear soul, and was perfectly suited to be our store mascot. I was with her during her snake bite recovery and it was so wonderful to watch her blossom during that recovery. Years ago, when I used to work the store, the best thing ever was when Bali would get the zoomies, racing up and down one post, then zooming to the next and charging up and down that one. And she never ever knocked anything down! Our store will not be the same without our dear Bali. She will be greatly missed.

Princess Bali was a most worthy royal. She made certain to keep her kingdom safe from the evil (well not really) Prince Sheldon who lived in the neighboring kingdom.
Price Sheldon was known to cross the boundary into her domain. He was promptly given the "what for" by Princess Bali or her loyal servant, Jennifer! Her protective grace extended to insolent dogs who entered her interior domain. They also were given the "what for" by her royal highness. She was a brave, loving and fun presence! As her loyal subject, (along with many others), I miss her. Even Prince Sheldon doth get a misty eye when he thinkith upon her. He shall meet her again on the battlefield in heaven! There they will become the best of friends! ~ Jill Berkana, Loyal Subject
