Ruth Alma Cox-Luster, age 86, of Pecos, TX passed from this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. She was born in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas on Wednesday, May 18, 1932 to the late Ray Richard Cox Sr. and Gladys Pearl Archer. She worked an LVN for 23 years until retiring due to injury. An animal lover, Ruth dedicated her life to rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals. She was very involved with the Citizen's for Animal Protection, rescuing abused animals when she lived in Houston. She was instrumental in getting the animal shelter built in Pecos and volunteered for Grand Companions in Alpine. A natural caregiver, Ruth helped many in her community with their pets in so many ways, from helping to feed them to nursing them back to health.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her son: Michael Luster and wife Terri of Austin, TX; daughters: Helen Luster Vernon and Leslie Conn, both of Pecos, TX; grandchildren: Michael Luster, Jr. and wife Michelle, Nichole Pacheco and husband Peter Pacheco Sr. and Kenneth Luster and wife Dewi, and their mother Connie Luster, Austin Vernon and Cody Vernon and great-grandchildren: Harley and Wyatt Vernon, Tyler, Kyle, Bryce, and Ayden Luster, Peter Jr, Ava, and Joseph Pacheco, and Olivia and Lillian Luster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son: James Weston; and siblings: Ray Richard Cox Jr., Lloyd Thomas Cox, Norma Jean Cox, Willard Eugene Cox, Wanda Mae Cox, and Edwin Leroy Cox.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at West Park Baptist Church in Pecos, TX and at a later date in Springhill, LA. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
